The
Gyro Club of Kentville is a friendship club which has been in place
since 1935. Its monthly business meetings are currently held at the Old
Orchard Inn in Greenwich on the first Tuesday of each month...September
through June. Special events celebrating Founders' Night, Christmas,
Valentines' Day, etc. are held, as appropriate, throughout the year.
Summer get-togethers typically include an annual lobster party, a golf
and dinner outing at KenWo, and a corn boil . The Gyrette spouses of
Gyro members also meet monthly for luncheon or dinner at various venues
throughout the Annapolis Valley.
The Club is currently managed by a Board of four Directors in the
absence of an elected President. The Board meets at periodic intervals
througout the year and is supplemented by various operative committees
responsible for program, telephoning, bulletin and website.
Membership is by invitation.
The Kentville Club operates under charter granted by Gyro
International, headquartered in Painesville,Ohio. It is one of seven
clubs within Gyro District VI administered by a District Governor.
Interim and annual conventions are organized and convened by individual
clubs and held throughout the region. Likewise, at the international
level, there is an interim and an annual convention open to all
Gyro members and their wives. |
